In less than two years, the population of Fort Bliss will have grown at a tremendous rate.  The majority of that growth will be due to family members who will make up a little more than 50 percent  of the expected growth.  As a military spouse, I know how difficult it can be to pack up everything (that you just unpacked), move to a new city and hope to make your new house a home...again.  Coupled with the fact that most of us desire to work, the employment situation in a new host city does not always offer the best of an already bad situation.  Having lived in El Paso/Fort Bliss for some time now, I completely sympathize with my fellow military spouses who cannot seem to find a job that will not only satisfy their sense of being; but one that will be worth the cost of childcare expenses, gas and time.

Here in El Paso/Fort Bliss, the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce recognized the stressful situation spouses were being subject to with respect to finding decent employment.  They have teamed up with the Upper Rio Grande Workforce to develop a website that allows spouses to match their talents, job experience and language preference with local employers.  The El Paso Job Register is waiting for you.

Fort Bliss Spouses Who Own Their Own Businesses Can Network With Others Online

Fort Bliss Spouses who have decided to enter the wondeful world of entrepreneurship have an online portal where they can connect with other spouses who are doing the same.

The Military Spouse Association was started by a group of spouses who desired to share information about economic concerns when it comes to taking care of their families.  Faced with the reality that not too many available, well paying jobs were offered in the area, these spouses were determined that they wouldn't be stopped when it came to assisting with the financial stability of their household.

The organization encourages spouses to join the group at www.fortblissconnect.com to begin sharing their knowledge and resources with others.  The hopes is to encourage spouses to take advantage of the opportunities available to them here in El Paso.

From Direct Sales representatives to catering, if you are a military spouse who owns his/her own business, we want to feature you.
