Strong Army Wives

Have you ever wanted to "write a letter" to a new military wife, just to share with her your experiences or offer words of encouragement? Your personal letter to any Army Wife concerning aspects of life could be just what the doctor ordered.

Whether you are a New, "Getting there" or Experienced Army Wife, your letter could offer a pathway to encouraging a spouse to effect positive change in her life throughout this military journey.

2009 is considered the Year of the Military Family. During this year, we will collect these "letters" to include in a book entitled Strong Army Wives. Each "letter writer" will write for a particular category...deployment, transitions (from pcs'ing to separation from service), coping with loss (from relationships to death), education, money, career, marriage, cooking, parenting, extended families, faith and values, etc.

If you feel you can offer a positive contribution by submitting letters of strength, pride and courage, please feel free to email project co-director at Jen@ArmyWifeMagazine.com.

Army Wives of all backgrounds can provide insight to others. New Army Wives offer ideas, talents and a 'fresh set of eyes' perspective that can be rewarding even to an already established agenda.

Part of the proceeds from this book will benefit a charity for Army Wives and the authors "letter writers".

Space for writers is limited so please respond as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you soon! Army Wives are strong! Hooah!

FORT BLISS SPOUSE PUBLISHES ARMY WIFE MAGAZINE
“Online Publication Launches to Empower Army Wives”

El Paso, Texas, October 26, 2009 – “Empowering Us . . . Begins with Us,” which is the thread stitched through every initiative, focus and article of the newly launched Army Wife Magazine, an online publication with a small population to receive print. The monthly publication’s website, www.armywifemagazine.com, was officially launched on October 21, 2009 and has its headquarters in El Paso, TX, near Fort Bliss.

Most contributors of Army Wife Magazine are Army wives themselves. The publication will feature articles, resources and stories experienced and composed by Army wives; Active Duty, Guard and Reserve. It will cover topics under health, faith and values, beauty, deployments, career and education, finance, lifestyle and more. As they come in, it will share letters and notes from soldiers about what it means to have an Army wife.

"Army Wife Magazine is about empowering, inspiring and motivating Army wives. We come together, regardless of our spouses’ rank, to share our (good and bad) experiences with other Army wives who desire to make the best of this life,” stated Moni Tucker, founder and publisher, married 19 years to an enlisted U.S. Army soldier.

The first issue features Mrs. Sheila Casey (wife of General George W. Casey, Jr., U.S. Army Chief of Staff) who offers insight into military life, insight from the DeCA Dietitian, an Army wife’s journey from abuse to love and a spotlight on one of the fastest growing Army installations—Fort Bliss, Texas. Quarterly, it will feature three wives from Active Duty, Guard and Reserve components, respectively.

"This publication will reach every facet of an Army wife, as an individual woman and partner to her soldier. Offering something, new, fresh and insightful, we aim to enrich the lives of all readers, Army wife or not,” stated Brandy, Editor in Chief, married seven years to enlisted U.S. Army soldier.

Army Wife Magazine will feature the humorous and heavyhearted topics. From sharing tips and instructions to motivating wives to become goal setters and trailblazers; whatever it is, it will be real and true. As the publication moves into fruition, the goal is to highlight Army installations, featuring events and newsworthy information for Army wives. Every month, it will spotlight at least one installation, a way to let everyone know “where, what and ‘who’ is happening.”

Since the launch on October 22, reader responses have been coming in from various means. Annie Lane, of Wedded Bliss, has received bookings from a feature about her life. Our contributor from Operation SpouseFormation was contacted by a university to assist with her degree aspirations.

“An old high school classmate, who is a military spouse but not Army, commented on my Facebook page that reading my Editor’s Note inspired her to get out and get involved and do something for the military,” stated Brandy.

They encourage all Army wives to visit and subscribe to Army Wife Magazine at www.armywifemagazine.com and join their social network at www.strongarmywives.com. If any Army wife is interested in contributing an article, recipe or other information, send an email of interest to info@armywifemagazine.com.
